The 2020/21 Season has started!

Despite it being earlier than usual, we hear no complaints. Yes the season has begun.

Following tradition, the Triathlon WA calendar kicked off with a Duathlon, but not just any Duathlon, the WA State Champs.

It’s a time when questions are answered, like how have people faired over the winter. This year it was more about, how have people dealt with lockdown and COVID-19.

From a Fremantle Triathlon Club perspective, the answer is: GREAT!

Matt Smith took out the Male’s open championship, whilst Brooke Mccoy made it an FTC double at the top of the Open field with the Female Open Championship. FTC’s Kate Bevilaqua took third whilst hubby Guy Crawford dominated on the bike (just one reason to attend Thursday Bike Sessions) for fifth.

In the Age Group Category we had a great showing from our female athletes. Michelle Carranza (30-34) and Cath Spencer (45-49) both took honours for their first state titles!

Sherry Coons, Kate Hicks, Kinga Hauge, Nikki Pursell all walked away with medals whilst James Cameron and Andy Flint represented the males.

There was also success for the Juniors with Josh Neervoort (1st Overall in Short Course) and Billie Mincham (3rd 12-13 Short Course) highlighted the strength of our Junior Athletes.

Attention quickly turns to Busso, last year’s Busso, but moved, to this year! Then we swiftly move into Mullaloo, Pink and Eagle Bay before our first local event and Novice Course Graduation at the Left Bank Triathlon on 22nd November.

The 2020/21 Season has started!
