Well done to Janet Musker who put together a strong race, and performed admirably in the female 40 - 44 category. Janet can relax and enjoy a massage from Tony Bence.

The committee would like to apologize to all club members who competed on the weekend for the absence of the club tent. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to transport the tent, drinks, spot prizes etc. We have therefore, made the decision to bring the tent (along with the spot prizes) to the Hillarys Triathlon on Sunday the 30th March. This will, however, not be an official club race.
CITY OF PERTH AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
FTC had 37 members who braved the less than ideal conditions at the City of Perth Triathlon last weekend. There were plenty of sore and sorry triathletes who ran up the finish chute on Sunday, covered in black muck from the Swan River, memories lingering of the strong easterly on Mounts Bay Road, and thoughts of shade and icy cold drinks after running in the searing heat.
Congratulations to Kate Bevilaqua who demonstrated her supreme fitness and professional class to take out first place overall in the woman’s field by a staggering 41/2 minutes. Kate receives a Sports Fever voucher and good wishes for a successful New Zealand Ironman.
Another long course specialist; Ron Sammit raced to second place in the male 45 - 49 age group and also receives a Sports Fever voucher.
David Wrighton, in only his second race of the season (after returning from injury) did himself proud with a ninth placing in the very competitive male 35 – 39 category. I’m sure he will make good use of his prize of a one month swim and gym membership from Fremantle Leisure Centre.
Jane Yovich who, has raced consistently all season braved the elements to finish fifth in the female 45 -49 age group. She can look forward to a massage kindly donated by Tony Bence.
Well done to all other club members, and special mention to Janet Ferguson who ran herself into first place in the woman’s 45 – 49 category, and to Brynt McSwain who finished third overall.
Our next club race is at Meelup on Saturday 23rd February.

Thanks to Steve Doyle and the team from Sports Performance for staging an excellent race. Thanks also to the crew of non racing triathletes and support crew for their efforts in setting up of the tent and all the gear. Once again Richard Burnell produced a much needed and tasty breakfast for everyone – thanks Rich!

MANDURAH STATE INTERCLUBS SUNDAY 9th DECEMBER - Report
FTC had 24 athletes representing our club on Sunday. At present we have 142 members. It was a disappointing turn out. It is obviously understandable if athletes are injured or had raced Ironman the previous weekend ( although Pete Rash and Steve Hammond had a go! ). The race is without a doubt about participation, not performance. Lets hope we have a better showing next year.
Thankyou, and well done to those club members who made the effort to travel to Mandurah and compete. FTC finished 4th in the Rob Pickard trophy and 3rd in the President’s trophy which means all our athletes performed exceptionally well.
Prize winners for our second club race go to:
Jason Nuttman (2nd FTC member to finish) and Amy Hancock( 3rd female FTC member to cross the line). They will both receive a voucher from Sports Fever.
The very talented and consistent Rob Macpherson (3rd FTC member to finish) earns himself a one month swim and gym membership from Fremantle Leisure Centre, and Mel Watson (4th female FTC athlete) will no doubt welcome a massage from Tony Bence for her efforts.
Prizes can be collected from Attadale Cycles.
Many thanks to Steve Hammond for transporting the club tent; and once again thanks to Barry DeJong for his continued and much appreciated hard work in collecting fantastic spot prizes from our valued sponsors.
Our next club race will be on Australia Day at Point Walter. Hope to see you all there!
All the best to those competing at the State Sprint Championships at Rockingham this weekend, and Merry Christmas to all.
